Goodwood House fundraiser

Raising over $90,000 on the night, our first fundraiser in support of Enonkishu was a great success

As one of our four founding core ecosystem projects we were delighted to work in partnership with Enonkishu Conservancy in holding our Out of Africa fundraiser at Goodwood House. This would not have been possible without the generous support of the Duke and Duchess of Richmond who gave up their residence for the evening, driven by personal link to the land and an understanding of how important it is to invest in sustainable solutions for the future.

The Conservancy sits on the edge of the Mara nature reserve and through its 6,000 acres represents a key doorway between 25% of Kenya’s protected wildlife and the 70% that lives unprotected and side by side with local communities.  With rapid development and population growth finding a balance between the needs of the community and the protection of the natural wildlife represents a real challenge to maintaining a healthy ecosystem.

Wild Philanthropy driven by a process of investing intelligently in lasting solutions found it a natural fit to support Enonkishu and its three core enterprises – educational training, livestock management and sustainable tourism which represents the best path towards protecting one of Africa’s greatest assets, the Greater Mara Ecosystem.

Wild Philanthropy was able to act as a bridge between the lands on the edge of the Mara and access to likeminded individuals who could support the work. Through its UK and US charities; technical staff and portfolio of contacts it was able to deliver a black-tie evening full of glamour and insight, raising $90,000 which will finance the Conservancy for the forthcoming year and enable it to diversify its revenue streams.

Moving forwards Wild Philanthropy will look to continue to support Enonkishu at first instance through grant applications in the US though its 501(c)(3) charity and subsequently by way of its three core streams – Impact – Travel; Investment and Philanthropy.

Please see the below video for a visual summary of the night. There is also a blog giving you further information of how the night unfolded. We rasied over $100,000 which was an incredible achievement.
